B-Movies are often dismissed upon release and until the next generation of young audiences grow up and start citing them as their major influences (Director ofDrive (2011) Nicholas Winding Refn has recently approached William Lustig to direct a remake of Maniac Cop) the films find their ways into their respective audience members lives via word of mouth. Often clunky, these lil treasures are filled with anti-Hollywood techniques (purposeful and otherwise) and are a breath of completely different airs. Bruce Campbell 's follow up project to Sam Raimi's Evil Dead II: Dead By Dawn plays out like a nastier version of Darkman (1990) primarily due to exploitation master screenwriter Larry Cohen (It's Alive trilogy) wrote this lil ditty showcasing the wonderfully underrated Tom Atkins (of John Carpenter's The Fog and Halloween III: Season of the Witch). The film even has a cameo by the real life Jake LaMotta (Raging Bull) and is the perfect way to kick off an evening of pure exploitation heaven. RATED-R. 85min. Brand New DCP Restored Presentation!

Director William Lustig considers Maniac Cop 2 to be his best film and boy are you in for a treat. Celebrating its 24th Anniversary, tonite is the film's San Francisco Theatrical Premiere! Improving on the already brilliant B-movie qualities from the first (scary policeman, strippers and Bruce Campbell) this late-1980s sequel has found quite a large cult fan base over the past 25 years. Genre fanatics of late like Sam Raimi and Peter Jackson have beautifully tweeked Hollywood into making big budgeted B-movies. Its important to celebrate the filmmakers that worked right alongside those now prominent filmmakers to not only recognize their similarities and differences but because Maniac Cop 2 might just become your new favorite film! SF Premiere of this Brand New DCP Restored Presentation!. RATED-R. 90min.
