Melodramas have always been dismissed and ridiculed by critics making it one of the most misunderstood and disrespected genre in cinema. Yet many audiences over the years have found filmmakers ranging from Douglas Sirk to John Cassavetes who legitimized the category. Nick Cassavetes (son of John) adapted Nicholas Sparks' novel into an enormously passionate romance 10 years ago and its time to announce that its one for the ages. Drawing comparisions to Elia Kazan's Splendor in the Grass (1961), this Depression-era "romp" is stunningly photographed by Robert Fraisse -- who shot Jean-Jacques Annaud's The Lover (1992) -- heightening the addictive chemistry of a 24-year-old Ryan Gosling and the always adorable Rachel McAdams. Take a chance and leave your snark-filled ocean for a night. You may be surprised to remember that melodramas have always been medicine for the moody. This 10th Anniversary 35mm Widescreen screening is courtesy of Warner Brothers. 123min. RATED PG-13 for "some sexuality." Preceded by trailers for upcoming M4M events.

no pain
John Cassavetes isn't a name, it's a philosophy. This hardworking actor used his Hollywood paychecks to finance his own Independent films which always showcased his very own friends and families. He was truly an original, rebelling against every conceivable cinematic convention. His movies have the power to knock the wind out of you, bore you to tears, leave you in hysterics and then make you start it all over again. And that's just in the first thirty minutes. This distinctively romantic and charming masterpiece is a perfect introduction for audiences interested in a truly unique filmmaker. Scene stealer Seymour Cassel -- he played Esteban du Plantier in Wes Anderson's The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou (2004) -- will kidnap your heart as a ragamuffin parking attendant who attempts to woo a melancholic divorcee played gloriously by Gena Rowlands. Don't miss this RARE 35MM SCREENiNG at the greatest movie theatre in the United States as well as don't miss out on an opportunity to find a new way of looking at the world... John Cassavetes changes lives. 35mm print courtesy of Universal. 114min. RATED PG. Preceded by other JC trailers!
