Showcased in Pauline Kael's "Trash, Art and Movies" essay, WiLD IN THE STREETS perfectly captures the state of rebellious chaos that America was feeling in 1968 which happened to be the most violent year in American History since the the Civil War. Distributor AIP (American International Pictures) had combined forces with Roger Corman by 1968 and was knee-deep in creating a slew of terrific teen-rage spectacles. This subversive gem is about a band led by Max Frost, whose songs connect with a confused youth culture by questioning everything from our country's arbitrary voting age to the obsolete ageist society.
