at The Castro Movie theatre in San Francisco, CA

7:30pm - BREAKIN' –(1984) Directed by Joel Silberg
Containing: Lucinda Dickey, Adolfo “(Shabba Doo) Quinones, Michael “(Boogaloo Shrimp) Chambers and Ice-T.

Pop, rock n' lock yourself to this month's Freeky Friday extravaganza, where Ozone and Turbo will teach you the ways of the Los Angeles' “street dance” with an emphasis on spinning on your head, dancing late at night with a magical broom, and truly creating some of the greatest dance moves of the 1980s. This quintessential Breakdancing film has enough bandanas, ripped-up sweatpants, tiny moustaches, and dangly earrings for you to fall on the floor and start “doing the worm!” Plus, who doesn't want to see a young spandex'd Jean-Claude Van Damme, dancing on the sidelines! 90min. 35mm.

9:45pm - BEAT STREET –(1984) - Directed by Stan Lathan,
Containing: Rae Dawn Chong, Guy Davis, Jon Chardiet, Leon W. Grant, Saundra Santiago.

Released the same year as Breakin', this Bronx-based Breakdancing film showcases your most favorite b-boy (and b-girl) artists on the spray-painted, snowy streets of the old New York City. The musical performances are to-die-for including Africa Bambaataa, Melle Mel, Brenda Star, Kool Moe Dee and Doug E. Fresh. The dancing between the almighty Rock Steady Crew and the NYC Breakers is the best you'll ever get and the story (even if it's a bit hokey) is strikingly more poignant. Don't miss yr chance to see this nostalgic classic on the big screen! 105min. 35mm.

11:59pm - COOL AS ICE
–(1991)
Directed by David Kellogg, Containing: Vanilla Ice, Naomi Campbell, Kristin Minter, Deezer D. as “Jazz.

“Yep, yep!” It's time to celebrate the 15th anniversary of Vanilla Ice's post-b-boy, ego-vehicle that was meant to crash & burn in 1991, but was destined to be a MiDNiTE FOR MANiACS in 2006! The original white rapper (Snow & Eminem have nothing on the Iceman!) plays a free-wheelin' rebel-without-a-clue musician who rolls into a small town and meets a high-school honor student who catches his “livin' large” heart. Can a “good”girl fall for such a “bad” guy? Come check out one of the most satisfying films you've never seen, which delivers astunning” visual style (cinematography by Januscz Kaminski who shot SCHINDLER'S LIST the following year!) and acting performances that only dreams are made of. Extremely Rare Print! NOT ON DVD. 100min. 35mm.
