"LOVE KILLS... IN THE 1990s" Triple Feature
(ONLY $10 FOR one or all three white trash classics!)

FRIday, november 06, 2009
at the castro theatre in San Francisco, CA.

As we round out the last few months of the Y2Ks, those darn 1990s suddenly seems to be just as important to revisit as the 70s and 80s have been. Tonite's triple bill will take you through the early half of the decade's interest in white-trash lovers... killin' and on the run.

7:00pm - TRUE ROMANCE (1993)

Written by Quentin Tarantino; Directed by Tony Scott
Containing: Patricia Arquette, Christian Slater, Christopher Walken, Brad Pitt, Dennis Hopper, Gary Oldman, Val Kilmer

Kicking it off is Quentin Tarantino's most sincere screenplay combined with some sexy blue lighting and a cast to truly die for. If it be Christopher Walken's maniacal calmness or Brad Pitt's hilarious honey-bear bong, these 90s characters are 100% pleasure. Come out and root for Clarence (the very slick and suave Christian Slater) and Alabama (performed perfectly perky by Patricia Arquette) as they overcome all the odds in the first screening of this 90s classic in over 15 years. Plus, how can you skip seeing it at the greatest movie theatre in the USA: The Castro Theatre! Widescreen 35mm Print, WB. 120min. Preceded by more killer 90s trailers.

9:30pm - NATURAL BORN KILLERS (1994)
Story by Quentin Tarantino; Directed by Oliver Stone

Containing Juliette Lewis, Woody Harrelson, Robert Downey Jr., & Tommy Lee Jones
This prophetic and psychotic clusterfuck has more psychedelic energy in it's first 10 minutes then Oliver Stone's whole last decade of film making. Both Juliette Lewis and Woody Harrelson give career defining performances as they take on the weirdest white-trash world this side of Bigelow's NEAR DARK (1987) and Lynch's WILD AT HEART (1991). The hyper-kinetic style of using every camera technique known to cinema may have created controversy & bi-polar reactions back in 1994, but now on it's 15th Anniversary the polemic film has grown into one of the most exciting and important time-capsules of the decade. Don't miss this 35mm screening, WB. 118min. Warner Brothers. Preceded by trailers for upcoming M4M screenings.

11:59pm - THE DOOM GENERATION (1995)
Written & Directed by Greg Araki
Containing Rose McGowan, James Duval, Parker Posey, Skinny Puppy, Margaret Cho, Perry Farrell

Underground auteur Greg Araki, while being the Sundance Film Festival's lil' bad boy in the early 90s (delivering such defiant and low budget controversies as THE LIVING END and TOTALLY F***ED UP) peaked with this unrated sadistic, over-sexed, drug-induced explosion that showcases Rose McGowan's deliciously demented debut performance. Capturing the genuine D.I.Y. spirit of the era with it's homemade sets and dumb-founded dialogue delivery, THE DOOM GENERATION's subversive slant can now be seriously seen as setting the pace for the onslaught of cynical Y2K cinema. Extremely Rare Unrated 35mm Print! 85min. Preceded by some of the gnarliest trailers from the 1990s.

Plus, tons of trivia and giveaways!

Miss this night… and cry!
