at The Castro Movie theatre in San Francisco, CA.

7:15pm - explorers (1985)
Directed by Joe Dante
Containing: Ethan Hawke, River Phoenix, Bobby Fite, James Cromwell.
Gremlins director Joe Dante spins an affectionate tale about three UFO-obsessed kids who decide to build a spaceship out of their tree house and garbage cans. Ethan Hawke and River Phoenix (at the age of 15!) perfectly encompass the mid-80s, pre-pubescent, geekiness that many of us were feeling. Preceded by a handful of outcast trailers. 104min. 35mm.

9:15pm - ALIENS (1986)
Directed by James Cameron
Containing: Sigourney Weaver, Michael Biehn, Lance Henriksen, Paul Reiser, Bill Paxton, Jenette Goldstein.

Dare I say there is no better 80s action film than James Cameron's slime-drippin', acid-sprayin', chest-burstin' extravaganza?! While colonizing has always been one of America's favorite pastimes, these inhabitants don't seem too eager to play. Come cheer for the baadasssss female of the decade, Ellen Ripley (Weaver) as she does her best to survive in this interspecies world war. 137min. 35mm widescreen.

11:59pm - DARK STAr (1974)
- Written by Dan O'Bannon; Directed by John Carpenter
A team of wacky American astronauts have orders to blow up all "unstable" planets in the universe. Along the way they argue with their computerized bomb, ask the 'big' questions in life and fight aliens that look exactly like beach balls! John Carpenter's low-budget UCLA student debut combines pertinent politics, hi-larious hi-jinx & super spiffy special effects. Extremely RARE 35mm print!

NOTE: Due to the short length (82min) there will be a trailer reel of choice John Carpenter trailers preceding the film.

$10 for ALL THREE FILMS!
