We kick off this quadruple feature about latch-key kids with this early 70's Mormon-produced treasure that is virtually unknown since it was limited to only screening in classrooms during the 1970's & 80's. Containing: Matt Dillon, Mickey Rourke, Dennis Hopper, Tom Waits, Nicolas Cage, Diane Lane.

Following on the heels of THE OUTSIDERS, Coppola released this haunting exploration of two brothers inhabiting a dead-end city, on the dead-end side of the tracks, watching a dead-end decade slip through their fingers. Everything from the crisp, black & white cinematography to the nuanced performances by Dillon and Rourke is utterly hypnotizing. And topping everything are those fish… Jesus, those shimmering fish! Freaky neon sets, sleazy 1950's greasers, and punky-pop- synth songs make this gang-infested adventure an all-time unknown 80's favorite! Lane basically reprises her role from Ladies & Gentlemen, The Fabulous Stains but now she's a Pat Benetar-ish pop singer who gets snatched up by a sleazy gang-leader (Dafoe). Luckily, her ex-sweetheart (Pare), her nerdy boyfriend (Moranis), and the goofy bartender (Paxton) all pitch in to save her sexy bod as well as the climatic New Wave musical finale.
