Originally written in 1982 by Stephen King, this prophetic RealityTV tale was wonderfully interpreted during the muscle-bound heroes of the late 1980s. Arnold Schwarzenegger gives one of his most exciting performances (in what truly would be the biggest hit on our current TV streaming) as he runs for his life through a John Carpenter-esque vision of 2017. While critics panned the film for looking like a TV game show, it's time to come on out and reconsider that cinematic decision as a haunting allegory to our present times. Keep your eyes glued for fantastic genre performances by Yaphet Kotto, María Conchita Alonso (VAMPiRE'S KiSS) and Jesse "The Body" Ventura, while Harold Faltermeyer's synth score should leave you in an absolute neon bliss. Preceded by a slew of 1980s/1990s Action trailers. Original 35mm Print. Rated-R. 101min.

BACK BY POPULAR DEMAND! You better get your advance tickets for "the mother of all survival films!" This epic Japanese teensploitation flick is literally going to be one of the most intense Castro Theatre experiences ever! A brilliant allegory of coming-of-age within our violent classrooms yet taken to a whole new level when our government decides to start removing High School students from their comfort zones and throw them into an unknown forest filled to the MPAA brim of utter anarchy. Relentless vicious-violence, jaw-dropping camera-work and legendary performances by Chiaki Kuriyama (Gogo from Quentin Tarantino's KILL BILL: Volume 1) and the stone-faced genius of Takeshi "Beat" Kitano, will have you stunned for days. This is not only the unofficial inspiration for the entire HUNGER GAMES franchise, this is a modern masterpiece that begs to be seen on big screen. Unrated 114min Theatrical Version. Restored Digital Presentation. Preceded by a gaggle of terrifying Japanese horror trailers.
