Written by John Hughes; Directed by Christopher Columbus
Containing: Macaulay Culkin, Joe Pesci, Daniel Stern, Catherine O'Hara & John Candy
home

Celebrated as the highest grossing film of 1990, it's time to revisit and dig a bit deeper into this truly brilliant modern day screwball comedy which showcases some of the most psychotic anarchy since the Marx Brothers and Warner Brothers cartoons. Macaulay Culkin's 10 year-old, coming-of-age performance took the country by storm but it wasn't just a fluke. Christopher Columbus' frenetic direction delivers a surprising amount of violent hi-jinx towards two of the best baddies in a kids film (All hail Joe Pesci & Daniel Stern!), but even more importantly, John Hughes' masterful script humbly creeps up on you as it explores the breakdown of the modern family in ways that Steven Spielberg would be proud of. Don't take this kind of family fun lightly by missing this beautifully RARE 35mm print courtesy of the Academy's Archive! Preceded by numerous John Hughes' trailers. 104min. Rated PG.

Freaks, geeks and a pair of unbelievable twin peaks! This innocently sexist, new wave 80s classic (written in just two days!) is easily one of the best of its kind. Relive those adolescent days when you and your pre-pubescent friend hung out at the mall getting slushies and dreamed of creating the ultimate wonder-woman by electrocuting a Barbie doll into your own personal home computer! Watch out though, your bullying older brother (pricelessly played by Bill Paxton) is out to make your life a living hell (as well as almost stealing the show!) I DOUBLE DARE YOU to show up wearing a bra... on your head! Beautiful 35mm print courtesy of Universal Pictures. Preceded by trailers from upcoming M4M events in 2012. 95min. Rated PG-13.

11:45pm - CAREER OPPORTUNiTiES (1991)
(20th anniversary SCREENiNG!)

Written by John Hughes; Directed by Bryan Gordon
Containing: Frank Whaley, Jennifer Connelly and Dermot & Kieran Mulroney
home

It's time to dust off John Hughes most underrated and misunderstood film. Frank Whaley plays Jim, the town loser (taking over the Anthony Michael Hall character) who gets the janitor midnite shift at a Target department store. His lonely, long shift leads him on an existential surreal ride filled with antics referencing everything from Charlie Chaplin's MODERN TiMES to Michael Cimino's DEERHUNTER. More importantly, he finds Josie (Jennifer Connolly), the local beauty queen has somehow snuck her way into the store and they together have to fend off a couple of robbers (Dermot & Kieran Mulroney). Many young boys & girls in 1991 experienced puberty in it's entirety as Jennifer Connolly graced us with her tank top atop of mechanical horse. Don't dismiss this lil' ditty too quickly for Hughes made have had something up his sleeve with this overlooked teenage fantasy. Preceded by a gaggle of big breasted trailers! Beautiful WiDESCREEN 35mm print courtesy of Universal Pictures. 83min. Rated PG-13
