man

This Frank Oz adaptation of the Broadway musical adaptation of Roger Corman's ultra low-budget cult classic is easily one of the best musicals of the 1980s. Jam packed with show-stopping numbers by Steve Martin & Ellen Greene along with countless 1980s cameos, it is Seymour's lascivious carnivorous plant Audrey II (spoken by legendary Levi Stubbs) and Rick Moranis (who was catapulted to a genuine star with this defining "nerd" role) who steal this rambunctious roadshow. Practically made to be experienced in the Castro Theatre alongside your new best friend, be prepared for the SF PREMiERE of the restored original "darker" (pre-release) 23-minute ending! 105 minutes. DCP Presentation courtesy of Warner Brothers. Rated PG-13 for for mature thematic material including comic horror violence, substance abuse, language and sexual references.

(16th ANNIVERSARY 35MM SCREENING!)

Written & Directed by David Cronenberg
Containing Jennifer Jason Leigh, Jude Law, Ian Holm, Don McKellar, Sarah Polley, Willem Dafoe

no pain
Having originally written a script to direct Totall Recall, David Croneneberg reworked this slimy, cerebral sci-fi gem into what many consider to be among his best films. Giving Jude Law & Jennifer Jason Leigh characters to truly "jack-in" to, this cyber-sexual mind-bender dove deep into the side-effects of the video gamer world. Released only two weeks after the Wachowski's had hit it big with The Matrix, it is time to acknowledge how this gritty lil' genre flick (in the likes of The Brood, Videodrome and Naked Lunch) may have actually inspired of few of today's top Hollywood filmmakers. 97 minutes. Original 35mm print. Followed by a cluster of Cronenberg 35mm trailers. Rated R for strong sci-fi violence and gore, and for language.
