bullies
Kicking off our triple feature of getting bit by a big mouth is one of the creepiest and surprisingly well made horror/comedies of the 1980s. This throwback to the Hammer films of the 1960s is punctuated by Roddy McDowell's sincere performance as Peter Vincent, a vampire/werewolf hunter. This R rated mini-masterpiece pre-dates all the classic Teen 80s/90s Vampire films i.e. THE LOST BOYS, VAMPiRE'S KISS & BUFFY and truly deserves to be viewed as a classic in it's own right. (The remake is coming out in October of 2011 so don't miss your chance to see the original in the country's greatest movie theatre!) Preceded by other 80s Teen Horror trailers. Widescreen 35mm print courtesy of Columbia Pictures.

9:45pm - AN AMERICAN WEREWOLF IN LONDON (1981) - Written & Directed by John Landis
Containing: David Naughton, Jenny Aguter, Griffin Dunne & Frank Oz

bulliesContinuing the theme of getting bit and going through one helluva transformation is the film that inspired Michael Jackson's THRILLER video. Combining terrifying violence, jaw-dropping special effects (winning Rick Baker the 1st Oscar for Best Makeup) and a cynical sense of humor that would help get a generation through the Reagan/Thatcher era, this inspired werewolf romp is screaming to be seen 30 years later in all it's gory! Preceded by trailers for upcoming MiDNiTES FOR MANiACS events! 35mm print courtesy of Universal Pictures.

'bullies
Concluding our nite of a thousand teeth is the granddaddy of them all: The film that Sam Raimi and company dropped out of film school to make. The original EViL DEAD isn't just one of the most important Horror films to be made in the 1980s but one of the most inspired Independent films of all time. Utilizing everything from genre defining cinematography to disgusting home made stop animation to giving Joel Coen his first feature film opportunity as assistant editor, this energetic, inventive and sometimes mean spirited zombie fest may not have the accessibility of it's sequels, it deserves your undivided attention. Preceded by some of scariest horror trailers ever made! Brand New 35mm Print courtesy of Grindhouse Releasing.
