dance til the cows come home

Jennifer Beals gives the performance of her career as a welder(?) who has dreams of becoming a ballet dancer. Beals perfectly captures the street-smart break-dancer who takes on the upper class-ically trained and creates some kind of weird hybrid-dancing called…Flashdance! Come on out boys and girls, bust out those leg-warmers, strap on those sweatbands and lock in those walkmans, while we pay respect to this seminal 1983 film. Preceded by trailers for the upcoming Edgar Wright extravaganza! 35mm print courtesy of Paramount. 95min.

dance til the cows come home
"This mind-blowing spectacle soars beyond the meager realms of art & commerce, which Transcends the dilapidated confines of heaven & earth with its unapologetic use of colou, This florid film provides enough tawdriness to nourish even the most hardened of fruit lovers for the duration of at least twelve lifetimes. Unfolding in a futuristic netherworld, where the antithetical spheres of fascism and body glitter collide with one another to create a hellish state of illusionary happiness, this salacious tale of disco decadence gone awry follows the musical misadventures of Alphie and Bibi (two wide-eyed singers from Moose Jaw) and their attempt to make it in the concrete domain of Mr. Boogalow, the president of BIM (Boogalow's International Music). Seriously, the production design by Hans Jürgen Kiebach (CABARET, 1972) was out of this world and the costumes by Ingrid Zoré are downright awe-inspiring." -yum yum 08.21.2008

Preceded by a gaggle of super sexy dance-athon '80s trailers! 35mm print courtesy of MGM. 90min.
