BRINGIN' ON THE HEARTBREAK Triple Feature!

Friday, FEBRUARY 8TH, 2008
at The Castro Movie theatre
in San Francisco, CA.

7:30pm - LUCAS (1986)
Written & Directed by David Seltzer.
Containing: Corey Haim, Winona Ryder, Charlie Sheen, Jeremy Piven, Kelli Green, Courtney Thorne-Smith (Ally McBeal).

We kick off our evening of "Heartbreaking 80's teen flicks" with a true underrated gem. Corey Haim gives his greatest performance (The Lost Boys a close second) as Lucas Blye, an awkward little guy who would rather collect bugs and hang with his best friend (Winona Ryder's debut), than party with the jocks (Charlie Sheen). Until one day, he falls for the senior class beauty and suddenly Lucas is doing everything he can to get her attention (including joining the football team!) This quiet coming of age tale will sucker-punch you as it explores the true horrors of High School hierarchies. Don't miss this RARE screening. Preceeded by a handful of heartbreaking trailers. 100min. 35mm.

SAY ANYTHING
(1989) Written & Directed by Cameron Crowe.
Containing: John Cusack, Ione Skye, Lili Taylor, Jeremy Piven, John Mahony, Eric Stoltz.

This young-adult masterpiece manages to genuinely capture the low self-esteem that so many of us experienced in High School. Lloyd Dobler (Cusack) has just graduated and other than wanting to become the world's greatest kickboxing champion, he wants to ask out the class valedictorian (Skye). Not only is the chemistry between Cusack & Skye a rare romantic achievement, the off-beat side-characters will evoke more teen nostalgia than any of your old journals. You may have watched this film many times before, but how many of you have experienced it on the big screen?! (Just think about it, Peter Gabriel's "In Your Eyes" blasting in the theatre!) Preceeded by a bunch of 80's teen trailers. 104min. 35mm.

MIDNITE
MY BLOODY VALENTINE
(1981)
Directed by George Mihalka.
Containing: Paul Kelman, Lori Hallier, Cynthia Dale (Heavenly Bodies) and Peter Cowper (as Harry).

"There's more than one way to lose your heart." Following John Carpenter's Halloween, a slew of stalker knock-offs hit the theatres and this one still holds up as one of the best of the early 1980's. On the twenty-year anniversary of a freak mining accident, the small town of Valentine Bluffs seems to have forgotten all about the grisly deaths of yester-year and decides to throw a Valentine's dance. Unlucky for them, a maniac (dressed in one-helluva disturbing disguise) is stalking the teenagers with a pick-axe, creating some of the most gruesome deaths of the genre. Extremely RARE print! Preceeded by some amazingly obscure Stalker trailers. 91min. 35mm.

$10 for ALL THREE FILMS!
