7:00pm - targets (1968)
Directed by Peter Bogdanovich
Written by Polly Platt, PB & Samuel Fuller
Containing Tim O'Kelly, Boris Karloff & PB

Mr. Bogdanovich's feature debut is a brilliant exploitation film follows a Vietnam vet turned insurance salesman as he goes on a shooting spree atop a Los Angeles oil refinery. Produced by Roger Corman in 1967, the film's release was delayed due to the assasinations of Martin Luther King Jr. & Robert F Kennedy. What's even more terrifying is how relevant the film is for today's world. 90min. 35mm.

9:00pm THE LAST PICTURE SHOW
Directed by Peter Bogdanovich
Written by Larry McMurtry

Containing Timothy Bottoms, Cybil Shepherd, Jeff Bridges, Cloris Leachman, Eileen Brennan, Ben Johnson, Ellen Burstyn, Randy Quaid.

This seminal coming-of-age flick not only captures the nostalgic small town 1950s life better than any of its followers (American Graffitti & Grease), it evokes that inital excitement of why we all fell in love with movies in the first place. A farewell to the old Hollywood and welcome mat to the new, this is one of the greatest American films ever made. 1971, 126min. 35mm.

AT LONG LAST LOVE

Written/Directed by Peter Bogdanovich
Containing Burt Reynolds, Cybil Shepherd, Madeline Kahn, Eileen Brennan.

This throwback to the musicals of Ernst Lubitsch was dismissed and despised upon its only theatrical release in 1975. Not only are the musical numbers refreshing and hilarious (inspiring musicals like Woody Allen's Everyone Says I Love You), the actors genuinely achieve the rapid-fire interaction and casual kookiness of the original Screwball comedies. Did critics really overlook the fact that this was clever tongue-in-cheekiness? A true treasure that serves both as a 1970s time capsule and as an inspiration for filmmakers to take their chances all the way. It might have taken 32 years for the world to catch up with this musical romp, Mr. Bogdanovich... the time has finally come. 1975, 126min. 35mm.

saturday
1:30pm, 5:30pm - PAPER MOON
Directed by Peter Bogdanovich
Written by Alvin Sagent; Containing Ryan O'Neal, Tatum O'Neal, Madeline Kahn, Randy Quaid.

Tatum O'Neal is still the youngest actress to win an Academy Award, for her hearbreaking performance in this pitch-perfect Depression-era comedy. With heavenly camerwork by Laszlo Kovacs and wonderfully obscure period music, Bogdanovich's fourth feature has the type of old movie magic that could stick with you for the rest of your life. 1973, 102min. 35mm.

WHAT'S UP DOC?

Directed by Peter Bogdanovich
Written by PB, Buck Henry
Containing Barbra Streisand, Ryan O'Neal, Madeline Kahn, Randy Quaid

Combining the 1930s Screwball comedies with Warner Brothers' Looney Tunes cartoons, this wild & wacky antic-fest utilizes San Francisco and Barbra Streisand in more ways than can be imagined. This is pure comedic bliss. With an introduction and Q&A with director Peter Bogdanovich if schedule allows.1972, 94min. 35mm.

It is the greatest honor to present Bogdanovich's heartfelt tribute to the early silent-era of moviemaking on the big screen for the first time in over 30 years! Not only will it be the Director's Cut World Premiere, the film will be presented for the first time in it's originally intended black & white format! Bring the whole darn family to this feel-good cinematic celebration! 121min, Digital Screening. Preceded by Sofia Coppola's LICK THE STAR which runs 14 minutes and has a cameo by Peter Bogdanovich. MASK-
director's cut (theatrical Premiere!)
Directed by Peter Bogdanovich
Written by Anna Hamilton Phela
Containing Cher, Eric Stoltz, Sam Elliott, Laura Dern

Ranking up there with David Lynch's ELEPHANT MAN, this fragile1980's treasure gives as many hugs as it evokes tears. Cher (who won best actress at Cannes) plays Rusty, a biker mom who loves her disfigured son Rocky (Stoltz) so deeply that you literally feel the weight of the world being carried on her back. A contemporary classic in every sense, you don't want to miss this U.S. Premiere of the film's Director's Cut (containing new footage and the originally intended Bruce Springsteen soundtrack!) With an introduction and Q&A with director Peter Bogdanovich, if schedule allows. 1985, 127min.35mm.

4:30pm, 9:10pm - they all laughed - director's cut (theatrical premiere)
Directed by Peter Bogdanovich Written by PB & Blaine Novak.
Containing Audrey Hepburn, Ben Gazzara, Dorothy Stratten, John Ritter, Blaine Novak

Peter's updating of Max Ophuls La Ronde is one of Wes Anderson's most influential films as well as (in my opinion) Mr. Bogdanovich's greatest film. With a cast from heaven, this hypnotic comedy masterfully interweaves eight characters, allowing it's actors to share subtle and even magical moments. Influential and memorable, reminscent to a late-70's Woody Allen film, the studio shelved the release due to the real-life murder of costar and girlfriend Dorothy Stratten, making tonite's West Coast Premiere of the Director's Cut even that much more special. 1981, 115min. 35mm.

(Preceded by an introduction and Q&A by Peter Bogdanovich and Louise Stratten (Dorothy's younger sister) at the 4:30 screening.)

Admission is $10 a day. $25 for weekend pass! Advance tix online at www.ticketweb.com and at the Castro Box Office.
