"MACHO MAN-iACS" Quintuple
- NiGHTHAWKS (1981)
Screenplay by Bruce Shaber; Directed by Bruce Malmuth
Containing: Sly Stallone, Rutger Hauer, Billy Dee Williams, Lindsay Wagner, Joe Spinell
Kicking off our ALL DAY extravaganza tribute to muscle bound men of the 1980s is an EXTREMELY RARE 35mm screenings of not just one of Sylvester Stallone's most underrated performances, but one of the best overlooked thrillers of the 1980s! Originally planned as THE FRENCH CONNECTION III, two NYC cops (Sly & Billy Dee) are hot on the trail of one helluva creepy terrorist played with pitch-perfection by Rutger Hauer (In his first American film, one year before BLADE RUNNER). The film has a very dark 1970s feel to it and even though the studio has yet to restore the TAXI DRIVER-esque climax, what remains is one of the most memorable conslusions of the early 80s! Add to that The Bionic Woman (Lindsay Wagner) and Rick Wakeman's hypnotizing synth/disco/prog-soundtrack and you've got the perfect beginning to this 12 hour 1980s endurance test! Preceded by an fistfull of Sly trailers. 35mm print courtesy of Universal. 99min.

If you've been wondering what all the fuss is about with Van Damme's recent comeback or if you remember the days before STREET FIGHTER and MORTAL COMBAT, don't miss this beautiful special 35mm presentation. The time has come to celebrate the 25th anniversary of one of the greatest unsung achievements in cocaine-era Hollywood. Not only did this obscure classic bring dozens of Asian American actors and actresses to the white-washed screens of 80s Hollywood, it also triggered a new-found appreciation for the Hong Kong martial arts cinema of the ‘70s & ‘80s.
The film exploits every Chinese stereotype in the book, but director John Carpenter and cast take these racial myths to such heightened, self-aware levels that now, twenty-years years later, the film has inspired a new generation of martial arts films including CROUCHING TIGER, HIDDEN DRAGON! This BRAND NEW 35mm WIDESCREEN print was struck in associatino with Fox's 75th Anniversary. Preceded by an fistfull of old skool Kung- Fu- Kult Klassic trailers. 99min.
