1980's Triple Feature... in 3-D!
October's Friday the 13th
THE HORRIFYING 1980'S…IN 3-D Triple Feature
Hosted by Jesse Hawthorne Ficks
7:30pm
Spacehunter: Adventures in the Forbidden Zone in 3-D
Directed by Lamont Johnson Containing: Peter Strauss, Molly Ringwald, Ernie Hudson, Michael Ironside 1983, 90 mins, ‘SCOPE
One of the few 3-D films made in the 80s to not be a three-quel, this gutsy, trashy sci-fi ditty has a bevy of bodacious babes, bounty hunters and a brilliant bad guy (psychotically played by Ironside). Be prepared to retrace your adolescence as the film combines Mad Max, Escape From New York, and Star Wars with creative special effects and killer vehicles. Throw in a super young Molly Ringwald, some hilarious dialogue and a bunch of compromising situations and you’ve got yourself the perfect 80’s obscurity…in 3-D!
9:45pm
Jaws 3 in 3-D
Directed by Joe Alves Containing: Dennis Quaid, Bess Armstrong, Lou Gossett Jr., Lea Thompson 1983, 99 mins, ‘SCOPE
Originally planned as a spoof of the Jaws series, this hilariously serious installment takes the underwater terror… to Sea World! Mike Brody (Quaid) is all grown up (quite quickly might I add), yet he can’t seem to get away from those now growling sharks! Luckily for him, his girlfriend (Armstrong) has telekinetic powers over the dolphins who help this movie swim towards one of Hollywood’s greatest 3-D’s moments. Did I mention that this movie takes place at Sea World?! Amazing.
11:59pm (midnite)
Friday the 13th Part 3 in 3-D
Directed by Steve Miner Containing: Dana Kimmell, Paul Kratka, Nick Savage, and Richard Brooker as “Jason” 1982, 95 mins, ‘SCOPE
Three-quels have never been given the respect that they deserve. But all that’s gonna change on this Friday the 13th. Especially when Jason Voorhees gets to slaughter a group of slutty teenagers using everything from pitchforks to harpoons. And the kicker isn’t just that it’s in glorious 3-D, this third chapter has the funky grooves of an electro-remixed soundtrack! You’ll be dancing in the aisles and screaming in your seats. Be prepared with yr Friday the 13th trivia, cuz I’ve got some amazing giveaways!
ALL THREE FILMS for only $10.00! Advance Tix available at www.ticketweb.com or at the Castro Theatre box office
