LATCH-KEY KIDS QUADRUPLE FEATURE

(Aka Kids without any parental guidence)

Friday - June 9th, 2006
______________________________________

7pm: CIPHER IN THE SNOW
Directed by Keith J. Atkinson
Containing: Robert Bridges, Bruce Kimball, Jacqueline Mayo
1973, 21min 16mm

We kick off this quadruple feature about latch-key kids with this early 70's Mormon-produced treasure that is virtually unknown since it was limited to only screening in classrooms during the 1970's & 80's. If you havn't been traumatized by this chilling LDS (Latter Day Saints) short film, this could be your only chance! Warning: Ultra-Rare 16mm print is in very brittle condition.

7:45pm: RUMBLE FISH
Directed by Francis Ford Coppola
Containing: Matt Dillon, Mickey Rourke, Dennis Hopper, Tom Waits,
Nicolas Cage, Diane Lane
1983, 94min Glorious 35mm Widescreen

Following on the heels of THE OUTSIDERS, Coppola released this haunting exploration of two brothers inhabiting a dead-end city, on the dead-end side of the tracks, watching a dead-end decade slip through their fingers. Everything from the crisp, black & white cinematography to the nuanced performances by Dillon and Rourke is utterly hypnotizing. And topping everything are those fish… Jesus, those shimmering fish! You'll never forgive yourself if you don't come on out and see this forgotten 80's gem in all it's glory, on the big screen.

9:45p: The WARRIORS
Directed by Walter Hill
Containing: Michael Beck, David Patrick Kelly, James Remar, Dorcey Wright, Mercedes Ruehl
1979, 93min, 35mm

"Warriors! Come out and plaaayy!" You've played the video game, you've seen the new director's cut complete with lame animation, now see what could be one of the last screenings of the original O.G. version before Tony Scott's remake brainwashes all your remaining memories. Whatever baadasssss costume you come dressed in, make sure you cheer for your favorite gang!

11:59p: STREETS OF FIRE
Directed by Walter Hill
Containing: Michael Pare, Diane Lane, Rick Moranis, Willem Dafoe, Bill Paxton, E.G. Daily 1984, 93min, Glorious 35mm widescreen

Freaky neon sets, sleazy 1950's greasers, and punky-pop- synth songs make this gang-infested adventure an all-time unknown 80's favorite! Lane basically reprises her role from Ladies & Gentlemen, The Fabulous Stains but now she's a Pat Benetar-ish pop singer who gets snatched up by a sleazy gang-leader (Dafoe). Luckily, her ex-sweetheart (Pare), her nerdy boyfriend (Moranis), and the goofy bartender (Paxton) all pitch in to save her sexy bod as well as the climatic New Wave musical
finale. Do not miss this!

All four films for only $10.00! Advance Tix at www.ticketweb.com or
the Castro Theatre box office.

Plus tons of old trailers from movies you probably watched too many times as a kid.

Comments

Fuck! This line up is so good, Jesse!

How special is it that Mr. Coppola is allowing us to screen this RUMBLE FISH print! The Cipher in the Snow print has been a personal search of mine beginning almost 10 years ago!! And finally I found someone with a print that they didnt even want! I used to get this movie screened to me every year in grade skool (grew up in SLC punk!) and it rilly rilly traumatized me!

Warriors.... Come out to playyyyy....

So, Mr. Ficks, will you be gracing us with your presence this fine night?
